The Central Investigation Agency (CBI) has intensified its action in the case of suspicious death of Noida-based famous model Twisha Sharma. In a major breakthrough in this high-profile case, CBI has arrested Twisha’s mother-in-law and former retired judge Giribala Singh. Earlier, Madhya Pradesh High Court had completely rejected his anticipatory bail plea. After appearing in the court, Bhopal court has approved 5 days CBI remand of both Twisha’s husband Samarth Singh and mother-in-law Giribala Singh. Now strict interrogation is being done behind closed doors to find out the real reason behind Twisha’s death.
Twish Sharma was originally from Noida and was married to Samarth Singh, a resident of Bhopal, in December 2025. But just 5 months after the marriage, i.e. on 12 May 2026, Twisha was found hanging in her Bhopal house. After the death, the family has made serious allegations of dowry harassment against the husband and in-laws, after which the case was registered under the Indian Justice Code and Dowry Prohibition Act.
₹20 lakh shares and domestic abuse angle
CBI investigation has now revealed a major financial and family dispute, which could be the main reason for this suspicious death. According to sources, Twisha had shares worth around ₹20 lakh in her name.
-
Intention to take over shares: Twisha’s maternal family alleges that her husband Samarth and mother-in-law Giribala were constantly pressurizing her to transfer all these shares to their name. CBI is now investigating whether this financial dispute was the main reason for the domestic abuse.
-
Demand for ₹2 lakh in farewell: According to the CBI FIR, during the farewell ceremony of this marriage held in December 2025, mother-in-law Giribala had allegedly demanded ₹ 2 lakh.
-
Questions and harassment on pregnancy: The investigating agency has also got such evidence which shows that Twisha’s in-laws were raising various questions regarding her pregnancy. She was also being mentally pressured to undergo abortion in order to remain in the family. Twisha’s parents claim that Twisha would often tell them over the phone about dowry, assault and mental torture.

Hi-tech ‘tunnel view investigation’ will reveal the secret
The CBI is now using state-of-the-art diplomatic and forensic techniques to uncover the truth as to what actually happened in the last few hours before Twisha’s death.
What is Tunnel View Investigation?
Under this, CBI is preparing a “virtual recreation” i.e. digital map of the last hours before Twisha’s death. In this, an accurate timeline graph of the entire incident is being created by combining CCTV footage around the house, mobile call logs, Wi-Fi data, internet search history and forensic mapping. This will reveal who was present in the house that night and what activities were going on.
Fear of tampering with police documents
The role of local police in this entire matter has also now come under the radar of CBI. An incorrect entry regarding Twisha’s height has been found in the initial police documents. CBI is now investigating in depth whether this discrepancy related to height was merely a human error, negligence on the part of the police or a well-planned conspiracy to change the course of the case and create a false story of suicide.
