High Court takes major action against Lucknow Mayor Sushma Kharwal: Financial and administrative powers seized, first such action Lucknow Mayor News: Now DM and Commissioner will handle Lucknow Municipal Corporation, High Court starts contempt action against the Mayor

A very shocking and big news is coming out from Lucknow, the capital of Uttar Pradesh, which will shake the administrative corridors. The Lucknow Bench of Allahabad High Court has given a very strict and historic verdict against Lucknow Municipal Corporation Mayor Sushma Kharkwal. The court has seized all the financial and administrative powers of Mayor Sushma Kharkwal with immediate effect.

This is probably the first case in the local body history of Uttar Pradesh, when such a blatant and unprecedented action has been taken by the court against the elected mayor of a big city. This entire controversy is related to an elected councilor not taking the oath of office and continuously disobeying the orders of the judiciary.

What is the whole matter? Controversy started from Faizullaganj ward

This whole matter started from Faizullaganj ward during Lucknow Municipal Corporation elections. Lalit Kishore Tiwari was officially elected councilor from this ward by winning the election with a huge majority. But after the counting of votes, a major administrative negligence came to light, where the victory certificate of Lalit Kishore Tiwari was allegedly handed over to someone else.

Without wasting any time, Lalit Kishore Tiwari approached the High Court against this serious rigging and injustice. Seeing the seriousness of the matter, the High Court ruled in favor of Lalit Kishore Tiwari and issued orders to the Lucknow Municipal Corporation Administration and the Mayor to immediately administer the constitutional oath for the post of councilor.

Supreme Court instructions were also ignored

Even after the High Court order, Mayor Sushma Kharkwal flatly refused to administer the oath to elected councilor Lalit Kishore Tiwari. Instead of accepting this decision, the Mayor challenged the High Court’s decision and approached the country’s highest court, the Supreme Court.

Strict stance of the judiciary: The Supreme Court, while hearing this case, declared the order of the High Court to be completely correct and logical. The country’s top court gave clear instructions to the mayor to immediately administer the oath of office to the councilor. But the surprising thing was that despite this strict stance and instructions of the Supreme Court, the Mayor did not follow the order.

The High Court reprimanded the bush; Now District Magistrate and Commissioner will take command

The Lucknow Bench of the High Court expressed its deep displeasure by making very harsh remarks on the continuous ignoring of the orders of both the Supreme Court and the High Court. The court considered this a direct disregard of the judiciary and ‘Contempt of Court’.

Taking a strict stance, the court has not only frozen all the financial and administrative powers of Mayor Sushma Kharwal, but has also issued strict directions to initiate serious legal action against her for contempt of court. After this strict order of the High Court, now the entire functioning and financial decisions of Lucknow Municipal Corporation are taken by the Mayor of Lucknow instead of the Mayor. District Magistrate (DM) And Municipal Corporation Commissioner Will handle jointly. Political analysts believe that this action has brought a new turn in the local politics of the state.
