Dehradun, 06 April (HS). Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Mahila Morcha state president Asha Nautiyal has accused the Congress spokesperson of spreading rumors by distorting facts regarding the Uniform Civil Code (UCC). He said that Congress has become distraught after seeing the defeat.
BJP Mahila Morcha President Asha expressed strong objection to the statement of the Congress leader and said that UCC has not given any provision regarding the residence process in any way. He expressed hope that the Election Commission would take suo motu cognizance and demand to curb such efforts that poison the atmosphere of Devbhoomi.
Expressing surprise, he said why Congress is in a dilemma regarding UCC while Congress MLAs have also cooperated in passing it from the House. This proves that either they are calling their MLAs incompetent, who even after a long debate did not pay attention to the so-called false issue of making them residents within a year, or they do not trust their MLAs who have come out and voted for them for so long. Congress does not want women to be given equal rights on property and other subjects through UCC. He alleged that Congress intends to change the cultural religious identity of Devbhoomi by stopping UCC, which the 1.25 crore people of the state will not allow to succeed in any way.
