Trump has claimed that America and Iran are ‘very close’ to a historic peace agreement. ‘Iran is a smart country, now the obstacles are over’ – Trump

While talking to the media on phone late Friday evening, President Trump described Iran as a ‘smart country’. Trump said, “We are very close to an agreement and I think it’s going to be very good for everybody. There are no major obstacles left between us now.” This statement of Trump comes just after the announcement of ceasefire in Lebanon and the reopening of Hormuz by Tehran. The President has indicated that he may also visit Pakistan (Islamabad) himself to finalize this agreement.

Trump has said in his claims on social media that Iran has agreed to hand over its enriched uranium reserves to America. Trump termed it as ‘nuclear dust’ and said that America will take it back. Although Tehran has officially denied handing over the uranium, it appears ready to come to the table for a peace deal. Trump claims that Iran has given its consent on almost all the main points.

The opening of the Strait of Hormuz has been warmly welcomed by the global crude oil market, but Trump has also issued a stern warning.
