After the subsidence of Dhanbad-Bokaro main road for the last two days, leakage of poisonous gas has started on a large scale from there. The heat of the underground fire and leakage of gases like carbon monoxide have put the lives of more than 500 families living nearby at risk. After joint inspection, the district administration and BCCL management have made it clear that the entire area is now a ‘danger zone’ and the only option left is to immediately evacuate the people.
Fire is boiling from the sunken road
On Wednesday, a large part of the Dhanbad-Bokaro road suddenly caved in at Kenduadih. From Thursday morning itself, dense smoke and pungent gas started coming out from that sunken part.
Atmosphere of fear: The leakage of gas is so strong that people living nearby are experiencing difficulty in breathing and burning sensation in the eyes.
Road closure: In view of security, the Dhanbad-Bokaro main road has been completely sealed and preparations are underway to divert the route.
