Bihar Deputy Chief Minister and Land Reforms Minister Vijay Sinha of the state ‘Unexplored Land’ (Government land for which there is no record or clear use yet) It has been announced to conduct a comprehensive survey. He has given strict instructions to all the District Magistrates (DMs) to prepare a list of government and unclaimed lands in their respective districts and submit them to the department.
Vijay Sinha’s ‘surgical strike’ against land mafia
Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sinha has clarified that the biggest reason for land related disputes in Bihar is illegal occupation of government land. He said, “There are many such lands which are on government papers but on the spot they are occupied by land mafia or there is no trace of them.” The department will now identify all such lands and prepare their digital database. For this, the department is also taking the help of special teams like ‘Udan Document’ which will expose the game of fake documents.
Big responsibility given to DM
Vijay Sinha has ordered the DMs of all the districts to run a campaign at the zonal level to identify such lands which are not in any use at present.
Government non-majorua land: Details of those on which no one has ownership rights will be collected.
Remove encroachment campaign: After the survey, the lands found to be under illegal occupation will be immediately vacated.
Use for development work: The main objective of this survey is also to ensure that there is no shortage of land for schools, hospitals and other government projects in future.
Deadline to end land dispute
The Revenue Department has also set a deadline for this entire survey and record updation. Vijay Sinha has warned the officials that if negligence or collusion with land mafia is found at any level in this process, then strict action will be taken against the concerned officer. He has also given instructions to solve the problems of the general public by organizing camps in Panchayats under the ‘Revenue Maha-Abhiyan’, so that the ryots (farmers) do not have to wander in getting the documents of their land corrected.
What will be the benefit to the general public?
After this survey, fraud in buying and selling of land will reduce in Bihar. With the government having clear data of its lands, disputes will be reduced and the burden of land related cases pending in the courts will also reduce. Apart from this, having accurate records of government lands will give impetus to industrial investment and infrastructure development in the state.
