Scheme and Benefits

The name of this scheme is Pradhan Mantri Suryodaya Yojana. Under this scheme, solar panels will be installed on the roofs of the houses of eligible people. This will help in reducing the electricity bill to zero.

The second benefit under this scheme will be that the government will provide 300 units of free electricity per month to all the 1 crore people who install solar panels in their homes. This was announced by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman during the interim budget.

Poor class and middle class people will get the benefit of Suryoday Yojana.

Applicant must be an Indian citizen.

People whose annual income is less than Rs 1 or 1.5 lakh are eligible.

People who own their own houses will not be eligible.

At the same time, people paying taxes will also not be able to avail the benefits of this scheme.

People who do government jobs or have a government official in their family will also not be eligible for this scheme.
