News India Live, Digital Desk: The political temperature has reached its peak for the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections. Laying the foundation of its strategy, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Friday announced the names of candidates for all the 27 seats of its quota. In this list, the party has fielded its biggest faces in the election campaign, which includes names ranging from Union Ministers to former Governors. However, the most shocking thing in the entire list is the party’s firebrand leader and former state president K. Annamalai’s name has been missing, which has created a stir in political circles.
Army of veterans in the field, bet on Murugan and Sundararajan
The BJP has put all its strength on the seats it won in the AIADMK-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA). The party has made the contest interesting by giving ticket to former Union Minister L Murugan from Avanashi seat. At the same time, Tamilisai Sundararajan, who recently resigned from the post of Governor, has been made the candidate from Mylapore. Mahila Morcha national president Vanathi Srinivasan has got a second chance from her current seat Coimbatore North, while state president Nainar Nagendran will contest from Sattur seat. To balance the social equations, the party has also given place to 5 women candidates in this list.
Why was Annamalai ticket canceled? He himself came forward and told the real reason.
Former IPS officer K. Annamalai not getting the ticket is currently the biggest suspense in the politics of the state. Various kinds of speculations were being made in the political circles, which Annamalai herself put an end to. He clarified that this decision was not the party’s but his personal decision. Annamalai said, “I had long ago informed the party’s core committee in writing that I do not want to contest from any constituency this time. I am grateful to the party leadership that they respected my decision. Now my entire focus will be on campaigning for all the candidates of the alliance and making them win.”
Compulsion or strategy of alliance? Did AIADMK’s pressure work?
Even though Annamalai is calling it his personal decision, political analysts are seeing it as an exercise to save the alliance. Sources claim that the ally was angry for a long time with Annamalai’s aggressive working style and his sharp statements on the AIADMK leadership. It was also discussed that Annamalai wanted to contest the elections from Coimbatore North, but this was not possible due to the alliance equations and the claim of Vanathi Srinivasan. In such a situation, BJP thought it better to make this ‘sacrifice’ to save the alliance from breaking.
PM Modi will gather in Chennai, will breathe electoral life among the workers

On Saturday, PM Modi will hold a high-profile meeting with around 100 key party officials and grassroots workers in Chennai. The only aim of this meeting is to boost the morale of the workers and create an environment in favor of NDA at the grassroots level. To open this door of the South, BJP is making every move with full force.
