News India Live, Digital Desk: The horrific cold storage accident that took place in Sarai Inayat police station area of Sangam city has now taken a political and legal turn. Former SP MLA from Manjhanpur (Kaushambi) Ansar Ahmed Has been taken into custody by the police. This action has taken place after the tragic accident in which many workers were buried under the debris due to the collapse of the cold storage wall and lift, some of whom died during treatment. The police administration has started tightening the noose in this case under the sections of negligence and culpable homicide.
1. How did the accident happen? (That scene of death)
The accident took place in the cold storage of Ansar Ahmed located in Sarai Inayat area. According to eyewitnesses, during the loading of potato sacks, suddenly the lift and a large part of the wall collapsed. About half a dozen laborers were buried under the debris. As soon as the screams were heard, local people and police administration reached the spot. After conducting a rescue operation, the injured were sent to Swaroop Rani Nehru (SRN) Hospital, where doctors declared two laborers dead, while the condition of others remains critical.
2. Why was the noose tightened on the former MLA?
Initial investigation by the police has revealed that the cold storage building was very dilapidated and safety standards were being ignored.
Allegation of negligence: Local people and family members of the laborers allege that complaints about the dilapidated wall had been made earlier also, but they were ignored.
Custody: In view of the increasing public anger after the accident and the seriousness of the matter, the police have detained former MLA Ansar Ahmed for questioning. The matter is being investigated by taking them to an unknown place.

As soon as the news of the accident spread, a huge crowd of villagers gathered at the hospital and the incident site. Angry family members created a ruckus demanding compensation and strict action against the former MLA. Police and PAC from nearby police stations including Sarai Inayat have been deployed to control the situation. The administration has assured to provide appropriate compensation to the affected families.
4. DM and Commissioner took stock
Prayagraj District Magistrate (DM) and Police Commissioner themselves inspected the incident site. Officials have directed that the fitness of all the cold storages in the district should be checked so that such accidents can be prevented in future. The investigation team is also investigating whether the map of the cold storage was in order and whether its structural audit was conducted from time to time.
