In this sequence, a new flag was hoisted on the 161 feet high peak of Ram Janmabhoomi temple on Friday morning. According to the temple trust, there is a tradition of changing the Shikhar flag from time to time, but this is the first formal change after the complete construction.
1. Significance of flag change
Welcome of New Year: According to the Hindu calendar, the new year is starting from today. On this occasion, new religious flags have been hoisted in about 8,000 temples of Ayodhya, of which Ram temple is the main one.
Maintaining tradition: According to Vishwa Hindu Parishad official Gopal Nagarkatte, the flag which was hoisted on November 25, 2025 as a symbol of the completion of the temple construction, has now been replaced with a new saffron flag as per the rules and regulations.
2. Visit of President Draupadi Murmu and installation of ‘Shri Ram Yantra’
Along with the flag change, another historic spiritual event took place at the temple:
Shri Ram Yantra Establishment: President Draupadi Murmu yesterday, March 19, on the second floor of the temple. ‘Shri Ram Yantra’ And ‘Shri Ram Naam Mandir’ Established.
