News India Live, Digital Desk:Saharanpur Police has registered another success under the ‘Zero Tolerance’ policy issued against criminals in Uttar Pradesh. In a direct encounter between the police and the miscreants, a criminal carrying a reward of Rs 50,000 was injured, while one of his associates managed to escape taking advantage of the darkness.
Encounter took place during checking: The police team was checking suspicious vehicles in the area, when two youths riding a bike were signaled to stop. Instead of stopping, the miscreants increased the speed of the bike and started firing at the police team. The police also retaliated in self-defense, in which a miscreant was shot in the leg and fell down.
History of Offender: The arrested criminal has been identified as a vicious criminal, who has more than a dozen cases registered against him like robbery, dacoity and attempt to murder. He was absconding for a long time and the police had declared a reward of Rs 50,000 on him.
Recovery and further action: The police said to the criminal:
An illegal pistol (315 bore).
Large quantity of live cartridges.
A suspicious motorcycle without number has been recovered.
According to Saharanpur Police, a combing operation is being conducted in the forests to search for the absconding accomplice. The injured criminal has been admitted to the district hospital, where his condition is said to be stable.
