Patiala: The matter of new recruitment of Associate and Assistant Professors in Punjabi University has reached the Election Commission. Taking cognizance of the complaint of Punjabi University Teachers Association (PUTA), the Election Commission has sought a report in this regard from the Higher Education Department. In this regard, Vice Chancellor Prof. Arvind said that the advertisement related to new appointments was before the announcement of elections and there is no violation of the Election Code in it.
Punjabi University Teachers Association (PUTA) President Bhupinder Singh and General Secretary Manidar Singh had sent a written complaint to the Election Commission on March 28 demanding that the appointment of teachers in various departments of the university should be completed during the election process, which is against the rules. Referring to the letter dated August 13, 2015 of the Ministry of Human Resource Development, it has been said in the letter that an officer who retires from the post of head of an organization cannot make any appointment in the last two to three months of retirement. Teachers union says that Prof. Arvind was appointed on 26 April 2021 for a three-year term ending on 25 April 2025. PUTA has demanded that new appointments in both the above mentioned contexts be stopped. Taking PUTA's complaint seriously, the Election Commission has sought a report from the Higher Education Department regarding the recruitments in Punjabi University. The Secretary of the Higher Education Department has sought a report from the Registrar of Punjabi University within 2 days.

Sobha Singh Department of Fine Arts, Department of Sanskrit and Pali, Department of Punjabi, Department of Persian Urdu and Arabic, Punjab School of Law, Department of Zoology and Ecology, Department of Botany, Department of Physics, Department of Chemistry, Department of Political Science, Department of Sociology and Social Anthropology , Department of Philosophy, Department of Guru Gobind Singh Religious Studies, Department of Linguistics and Department of Punjabi Terminology. Therefore, the date for filling the online form is 1 April 2024 and instructions have been given to submit all the forms in the register office by 16 April 2024.
