The film ‘PK’ released in 2014 broke records at the box office, but there is a story hidden behind this blockbuster which very few people know. Just before the shooting of the film started, the makers came to know that a large part of their story was similar to Akshay Kumar’s film ‘OMG’.

Why and how was the script changed? (The Big Reveal)

Rajkumar Hirani recently revealed in an interview that in the original script of ‘PK’, Aamir Khan’s character was to be shown as a god who comes to earth. But when in 2012 ‘OMG – Oh My God!’ When it was released, Hirani and Aamir were shocked.

Fear of Equality: Religion and hypocrisy were also attacked in ‘OMG’. Hirani felt that if he made a film on his old story, people would call it a copy of ‘OMG’.

Aamir’s suggestion: Hirani, along with Aamir Khan and scriptwriter Abhijat Joshi, reworked the script over the next several months.

Alien’s Angle: Finally it was decided that ‘PK’ should be used as a symbol instead of ‘God’. ‘Alien’ (a creature from another planet) who sees the world through the eyes of an innocent child.

There was tremendous benefit from changing the script.

Innocence: PK’s ‘Wrong Number’ dialogues and his curiosity were greatly appreciated by the audience.

Avoidance of comparison: The film seemed completely original and its comparison with ‘OMG’ ended.

Box Office King: The film opened worldwide Rs 800 crore It did a business of more than Rs. 100 crore and became the highest grossing Indian film of that time.

Rajkumar Hirani is known for the detailing in his films. He admitted that if he had not changed the script after ‘OMG’, perhaps ‘PK’ would not have achieved the classic status that it enjoys today. This story teaches how creativity and decisions taken at the right time can change the fate of a film.
