News India Live, Digital Desk: The process has now become very easy for more than 2 crore voters who had received notices during the voter list revision and correction work in Uttar Pradesh. With the help of technology, the Election Commission has created a system which will eliminate the hustle and bustle of voters and will also increase transparency.
What was the problem?
Often, the Election Commission issues notices to voters in case of deletion of name, change of address or duplicate entry in the voter list. Earlier, to solve this problem, people had to go to the tehsil or election office and appear before the BLO or the concerned officials, due to which a lot of time was wasted.
New Arrangements of Election Commission
Online Verification: Now voters will be able to respond to the notice and upload the necessary documents through the portal or app while sitting at their home.
Digital Tracking: The data of every voter who receives the notice will now be on a centralized system, through which the BLOs will personally reach out to them and complete the verification process.
Helpline and Facilitation Centre: The Commission has issued special facilitation centers and helpline numbers from where voters can get information about the status and resolution of their notices.
Direct impact on 2 crore voters
In a big state like Uttar Pradesh, a massive campaign was launched to remove fake votes and correct names. During this period, discrepancies were found in the data of more than 2 crore voters. With the implementation of the new system, now all these people will be freed from standing in long queues at government offices.
Important tips for voters:
Voter Helpline App: The Commission has appealed to the voters to download the ‘Voter Helpline App’ so that they can check every information related to their voter slip and notice on the phone itself.
e-KYC: Under the new system, voters can also get their identity verified online, which will permanently secure their entry.
