Kanpur. Samajwadi Party chief and former Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav has opened a front against the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Election Commission of India (ECI). During a press conference held in Kanpur, Akhilesh Yadav made serious allegations and said that BJP in collaboration with a big private company is getting the names of opposition supporters removed from the voter list. He has also raised big questions on the impartiality of the Election Commission in this entire process.
Objections to the use of Form 7: “When revision complete, why new process?”
Despite the completion of the process of Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of voter lists, Akhilesh Yadav Form 7 Objected to the widespread use of (the form used to remove votes). He asked question:
“When the revision work of the entire voter list has already been completed, then why is Form 7 being resorted to again for vote rigging? The Election Commission is a constitutional body and it is its responsibility to ensure that no eligible voter’s name is deleted from the list.”
Mystery of Dasharatha and Nandlal: Claim of signatures being rigged
The SP chief made a shocking claim saying that signatures of persons named ‘Dasarath’ and ‘Nandlal’ were found on most of the forms submitted for deletion of names from the voter list. According to Akhilesh Yadav:
Dasharatha: The names of predominantly Muslim voters have allegedly been removed through entries bearing their signatures.
Nandlal: Akhilesh claimed that Nandlal is a laborer who usually puts thumb impressions, but he was forced to sign the form through intimidation or conspiracy.
He said sarcastically, “I thank those great characters of Treta and Dwapar era by whose grace this fraud was caught. The BLO fulfilled its responsibility, due to which this conspiracy of BJP was exposed.”
Election Commission extended the deadline: lodge objections till March 3
Amidst this political tussle, the Election Commission of India has extended the last date for filing claims and objections under the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) in Uttar Pradesh. On the request of the Chief Electoral Officer, now citizens can register their objections till March 3, 2026. Earlier this deadline was ending on 6 February. The Commission says that the purpose of this extension is to ensure complete verification and public participation.
BJP accused of data mining through ‘private company’
Akhilesh Yadav, in a direct attack on BJP, said that a ‘big company’ has been specially appointed for this work which is analyzing the data and identifying those booths and areas where SP’s support base is strong. According to him, on the basis of this data, the game of canceling votes is being played with the connivance of the Election Commission.
