The Food and Public Distribution Department of the Government of India has issued a notification for all ration card holders. e-KYC New instructions have been issued regarding the process.

According to ‘Times Bull’ report, beneficiaries who will not complete their e-KYC process within the stipulated time limit, their names may be struck off from the ration card, due to which they will lose out on free grains and other government benefits in future.

Why is ration card e-KYC necessary?

The main objective of the government is to identify ineligible people and fake beneficiaries under the ‘One Nation One Ration Card’ scheme. Through e-KYC:

Fraud will stop: Ration is also being taken in the names of many people who are no longer eligible or who have died.

Transparency: It will be ensured that government benefits reach only the genuine needy.

Updated data: It is mandatory for all the members of the family to match the Aadhaar card.

The extension is till 31st March 2026

To complete this process the government 31 March 2026 Deadline has been fixed. If there are names of 5 family members in your ration card, then all those 5 members will have to get e-KYC done individually. If any one member leaves, the ration of that member may stop.

How to get e-KYC done? (Step-by-Step Guide)

This process is completely complete for ration card holders. free And for this you do not need to wander anywhere:

Go to Ration Shop (PDS Shop): Take your Aadhar card and ration card with you and go to the nearest government ration shop.

Verification on PoS machine: The clerk will ask you to put your fingerprint (biometric) on the posh machine.

Data Matching: The machine will match your Aadhaar data with the ration card data.

Confirmation: If the process is successful, a receipt will be issued from the machine or the Kotdar will confirm to you that your e-KYC was successful.

Disadvantages of not doing e-KYC

name cut: The name of the beneficiary will be removed from the database by the department considering him ineligible.

Free ration stop: The 5 kg grain (rice/wheat) available per member will be stopped.
