Ranchi District Election Officer cum Deputy Commissioner Rahul Kumar Sinha has specifically told all the concerned officials that the security of EVM machines is of paramount importance. There should be no compromise in its protection. Sinha was speaking in the review meeting of preparations for Lok Sabha elections in the auditorium of Chanho block office on Thursday.
He said that all the Sector Officers, Sector Police Officers and all the personnel were informed that EVMs, voting material, vehicles etc. for voting will be made available at Morhabadi, Ranchi from 07:00 AM on May 12. After receiving all the voting materials, it will be the responsibility of the Sector Officer and Sector Police Officer to take the EVMs to the respective polling centers in full safety as per the route chart. A fixed number of secure EVMs will be given to all sector officials. He will keep the EVMs in the strong room under his full custody. If suddenly an EVM gets damaged at any polling station, the sector officer will ensure that the safe EVM is delivered to that polling station without any delay. During this, Deputy Commissioner and SSP Chandan Kumar Sinha also gave many directions to the officials.
While giving information to all the officials, the Deputy Commissioner said that all the polling stations of Chanho block come under 66-Mander (ST) Legislative Assembly constituency and 12-Lohardaga (ST) Lok Sabha constituency. Where the date of voting is fixed for 13th May. He said that all the concerned officers should complete all the preparations on time. He said that all 97 polling stations of Chanho block come under 66-Mandar Legislative Constituency. A total of 71 buildings have been identified for these polling stations. For this, 15 sectors have been created and Sector Officers and Sector Police Officers have been appointed in all these sectors.
The Deputy Commissioner took information from all the sector officers about the traffic, security etc. at the polling stations located under their sector. On this, it was told by some sector officials that at some places there is lack of adequate toilets, water and electricity at the polling stations. On this, the Deputy Commissioner gave instructions and said that within three days, all the sector officers should hold a meeting and solve the problems without any delay. Besides, all sector officers were instructed to provide reports as soon as possible regarding the number and type of vehicles as per the number of polling parties arriving at their respective polling stations and the condition of the road.
He said that if there is an urgent need to make changes in the building of the polling station, then in such a situation, it should be informed to the district. The Deputy Commissioner directed the police station in-charge and zonal officer to get the voter list verified from all the BLOs and to send the verification report of arms and ammunition.
