The tongue is bitten: Those who misuse their speech to put others down or tarnish their image by telling lies, the Yamdoots punish their tongues with hot iron instruments.
Kumbhipakam hell: Those who cause disturbance in the lives of others by speaking evil of them are thrown into a hell called ‘Kumbhipakam’, where they are tortured like cauldrons of hot oil.
Effect in next life: Garuda Purana says that such persons may become mute in the next life or may suffer from diseases that affect their speech.
