Budget session of Bihar Assembly begins amid uproar, opposition boycotts Governor’s address:

News India Live, Digital Desk: The budget session of Bihar Legislature has started from today. On the first day of the session, the Governor addressed the joint meeting of both the Houses. However, as soon as the Governor started his speech, the opposition parties (RJD, Congress and Left parties) started sloganeering inside the House. The opposition alleges that the Nitish government has failed on every front and “false claims” are being marketed through the Governor.

Highlights of the Governor’s address

In his address, the Governor outlined the achievements of the Bihar government in the last one year and future plans:

Agriculture and Irrigation: Under the agricultural roadmap, emphasis was laid on the facilities being provided to farmers and expansion of irrigation projects.

Education and Health: The establishment of new medical colleges in the state and the appointment of teachers was described as a major victory for the government.

Industrial Investment: Improvement in infrastructure (Roads & Bridges) was mentioned to develop Bihar as a new industrial hub.

Loud uproar and walkout by the opposition

Opposition MLAs, led by opposition leader Tejashwi Yadav, protested against the proceedings of the House.

Sloganeering: The opposition displayed placards on issues such as “paper leak”, “increasing crime” and “unemployment”.

Outflow: In the middle of the Governor’s speech, the opposition members walked out of the House and staged a protest outside the premises. Terming it as “dictatorship”, Tejashwi Yadav said that the government is afraid of hearing the truth.

Strict security measures

Patna District Magistrate (DM) Dr. Thiagarajan said that in view of the budget session, extensive security arrangements have been made in the Legislature complex and surrounding areas. Drones are being monitored and police forces have been deployed in large numbers to prevent any untoward incident.

Budget presentation: In the coming days, the budget for the year 2026-27 will be presented by the Finance Minister, on which the entire state is keeping an eye.
