According to Hindu calendar, the festival of Mahashivratri will be celebrated in the year 2026. 15 February (Sunday) Will be celebrated. The beginning of Chaturdashi Tithi and the time of Nishita Kaal (midnight worship) is falling on the night of 15th February, hence the fast and main puja will be held on this day.

Chaturdashi date ends: 16 February 2026, till 06:40 am

Auspicious time for worship of all four Prahars (4 Prahar Puja Time)

According to the scriptures, the worship of all four hours of the night on Mahashivratri has special significance. It is believed that the devotee who worships Shiva in these four Prahars, all the sins of his life are washed away.

Nishita Kaal Muhurta (Most Auspicious Time): From 12:09 in the night to 01:01 in the night (this is the time when Lord Shiva’s Lingobhava took place).

Rudrabhishek and Shiva-Parvati worship method

By performing Rudrabhishek on Mahashivratri, the evil effects of the planets are pacified and the wishes are fulfilled.

Panchamrit bath: Anoint Shivling with milk, curd, ghee, honey and sugar.

Favorite things: Offer Belpatra, Dhatura, Bhang, Shami leaves and Madar flowers to Mahadev.

Worship of Mother Parvati: Offer wedding material to Goddess Parvati along with Lord Shiva.

Breaking the fast: Break the fast on 16th February after sunrise and before the end of Chaturdashi Tithi.
