News India Live, Digital Desk: We often say that films are for entertainment, but when a story comes on screen which is related to the bitter reality of our history or society, then it becomes more of a lesson than entertainment. Sony Liv has mastered this art. If you’re looking for something awesome this week, be sure to check out these recommendations of mine:

1. Scam 1992: The Harshad Mehta Story (IMDb: 9.3/10)
Who has not heard the name of Harshad Mehta? The ‘Big Bull’ of the 90s which shook the stock market. Prateek Gandhi’s acting and that dialogue “Risk hai to ishq hai” is still in everyone’s mind. This series tells us how a common man took advantage of the shortcomings of the system and pulled off such a big ‘scam’. This is a must see!

2. Rocket Boys (IMDb: 8.9/10)
If you think that India’s space program (ISRO) was created in a jiffy, then you should know about Dr. Homi J. This story of Bhabha and Dr. Vikram Sarabhai is a must watch. Filled with patriotism, friendship and passion for science, this series tells how we started from zero and reached the moon.

3. Maharani (IMDb: 7.9/10)
That era of Bihar politics, which you cannot forget even if you want to. An illiterate woman suddenly reaching the post of Chief Minister and then becoming an expert in the game of power; Huma Qureshi has put her soul into this role. It seems largely inspired by real political ups and downs.

4. Stress (IMDb: 7.3/10)
This story of the challenges of the Kashmir Valley and the bravery of the security forces against terrorism forces one to think a lot. This is an adaptation of the Israeli series ‘Fauda’, but the Indian context given in it is very real and sensitive.

5. Unseen (IMDb: 7.9/10)
How far can high and influential people go to hide their mistakes? This story revolving around a murder incident that took place in the middle of a high-profile wedding seems true and horrifying. Its character of ‘Atwa’ (Papa Ji) will make you hate and praise both.

A tip on the go:
The special thing about these shows based on true stories is that you are able to connect yourself with their characters. Their high rating on IMDb is proof that the public is no longer liking ‘just fiction’ but also ‘dangerous reality’.

Which one is your favourite?
