Built from pink sandstone from Rajasthan, Abu Dhabi's first Hindu temple was opened to the public last month. The grandeur of this temple can be gauged from the fact that more than 3.5 lakh devotees have visited here in just one month.
The BAPS Swaminarayan Temple in Abu Dhabi was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Vasant Panchami in February and was opened for tourists from March 1. The temple spokesperson has informed that about 3.5 lakh devotees came for darshan in the first month. Of these, 50,000 people used to come every weekend i.e. Saturday and Sunday. Notably, the temple holds private prayers on Mondays and remains closed to visitors. That means, out of 31 days of March, only 27 lakh people came to the temple.
Sandhya Aarti is held every evening
The spokesperson said that Ganga Aarti is performed every day at 7.30 pm on the banks of Swaminarayan Ghat from Tuesday to Sunday. Let us tell you that this ghat has been constructed with the sacred water of Ganga and Yamuna brought from India.
The temple was inaugurated on 14 February
The grand Hindu temple of BAPS Swaminarayan Sansthan in Abu Dhabi was inaugurated at a special event on February 14 in the presence of over 5,000 invited guests. The architecture of Abu Dhabi's first Hindu temple also includes seven minarets representing the seven emirates of the UAE, carvings of camels and the national bird, the eagle. The temple is built by BAPS Swaminarayan Sansthan in Abu Murikha near Al Rahba on the Dubai-Abu Dhabi Sheikh Zayed Highway. The 27 acres of land donated by the UAE government is worth approximately Rs. This temple has been constructed at a cost of Rs 700 crore.
