Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's petition will be heard in the Delhi High Court today on April 3. Kejriwal has filed a petition against his arrest. Kejriwal has challenged the decision of his arrest and remand in a money laundering case related to liquor policy. He had approached the High Court on 23 March.
The court had issued a notice to ED in this matter and sought its reply by April 2. On Kejriwal's petition, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) filed an affidavit in the High Court on the evening of April 2. ED said in its affidavit that Aam Aadmi Party did money laundering through Kejriwal. The investigating agency said it had sent nine summons to Kejriwal and given him several opportunities to cooperate in the investigation of the case. However, every time Kejriwal did not join the investigation by making some excuse or the other.
Let us tell you that ED had arrested Kejriwal from his house on March 21 after two hours of interrogation. After which Arvind Kejriwal, lodged in Tihar Jail, had filed a petition in the High Court on March 23 against his arrest. The Election Commission had issued a notice to the ED on March 27 and sought its reply by April 2. The case will be heard today on April 3.
Apart from his arrest, Kejriwal has also challenged the remand decision of Rouse Avenue Court. Actually, he was arrested on 21 March. The next day, Rouse Avenue Court sent him on ED remand till 28 March, which was later extended till 1 April. On April 1, the court sent him to Tihar in judicial custody till April 15.
