A huge drop in temperature has been recorded, due to which cold wave continues in many areas of the state. The Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for 12 districts, the direct impact of which is also visible on cities like Ranchi. To protect children from this cold, an order has been issued to close schools in Ranchi.
Which districts have yellow alert?
The 12 districts for which the Meteorological Department has issued yellow alert include East Singhbhum, West Singhbhum, Simdega, Gumla, Latehar, Garhwa, Palamu, Lohardaga, Chatra, Koderma, Bokaro and Giridih. There is a possibility of cold wave in these districts for the next few days, due to which severe cold will be felt in the morning and evening. People in these districts have been advised to wear adequate warm clothes and come out of their homes only when necessary.
School holidays in Ranchi:
The havoc of cold wave is clearly visible in the capital Ranchi also. In view of the cold winds and falling temperatures, Ranchi district administration has directed all private and government schools up to class 8th to remain closed till further orders. This decision has been taken keeping in mind the health and safety of children so that they do not fall ill. It is hoped that this will provide relief to the children from this severe cold.
How will the weather be?
There may be a slight increase in the maximum temperature in Jharkhand for the next few days, but there is no possibility of any significant change in the minimum temperature. There may be dense fog in the morning, which will reduce visibility. People have been advised to avoid morning walks and take full measures to protect themselves from cold. This severe cold may continue for a few more days, so everyone needs to remain alert.
