News India Live, Digital Desk: There is an important information for the devotees of the sacred Bhimashankar Jyotirlinga of Lord Shiva located in Pune district of Maharashtra. For the safety of the devotees and maintenance of the temple, the doors of the temple will be closed from January 1, 2026. This decision has been taken by the temple administration for large scale repair and renovation work. This holy temple, the center of faith of millions of devotees, will not be available for darshan for some time.

Why was this big decision taken?

According to the temple management, Bhimashankar Jyotirlinga is an ancient temple and the continuous movement of a large number of devotees has affected its structure. The existing structure is in dire need of repair at some places, so that the safety of the devotees can be ensured. Due to the pressure of huge crowds and changing climate, structural problems have emerged, which are very important to fix. The main objective of this renovation and repair work is to give the devotees an even safer and better experience in the future. Clear information as to how long this work will continue has not been given yet, but devotees have been appealed to follow the guidelines of the administration.

Bhimashankar is one of the 12 Jyotirlingas of Lord Shiva.

Bhimashankar Temple is one of the 12 sacred Jyotirlingas, where Lord Shiva himself is considered to be present in the form of Linga. It has great religious importance and is a major pilgrimage site for Shiva devotees coming from India and abroad. This area is also known for its natural beauty and tranquil environment. This news may be disappointing for those devotees who were planning to visit here in early 2026.

However, the noble motive behind this decision is to maintain the long-term safety of the devotees and the ancient glory of the temple. It is expected that after the repair, Bhimashankar Jyotirling will look even more grand in its new and stronger form and devotees will be able to have darshan of Lord Shiva again in a safe environment.
