After PM Kisan, Modi government’s biggest gift to farmers! Now the fate of 100 districts will change

There is a very good news for crores of farmers of the country. You are waiting for the next installment of PM Kisan Samman Nidhi, but before that the government has started a “grand scheme” which can change the picture of farming in the coming times. The name of this scheme is – ‘Pradhan Mantri Dhan-Dhanya Krishi Yojana’.

The government is going to spend ₹24,000 crore every year on this scheme, which is set to bring a big change in the lives of about 1.7 crore farmers of the country.

So what is this ‘Dhan-Dhanya’ scheme?

Understand it in simple language. Till now, many schemes of different ministries were running for the farmers, like – separate for irrigation, separate for seeds, separate for animal husbandry. Farmers had to visit different offices for every work.

Now the government has combined more than 36 schemes of 11 ministries and made it a mega scheme. This means that now farmers will not have to wander, rather their every need will be solved at one place, under one scheme.

Will the money from this scheme come directly into the account?

No, and this is the most special thing about this scheme. This scheme will not directly put money in your account, but it is a scheme that will change the fortunes of your entire district. The government has selected the 100 most backward districts of the country for this scheme, where the condition of farming is not very good.

The government will work on water, electricity, irrigation facilities, warehouses for crop storage and new farming techniques in these 100 districts. When the entire area is developed, every farmer will automatically get its benefits.

Which districts will be selected and why?

The Government will select those districts where:

  • The crop yield is very low.
  • Farmers have taken little advantage of facilities like Kisan Credit Card.

What benefits will farmers actually get?

The objective of this scheme is not only to increase the cultivation of paddy and wheat, but also to increase the income of farmers from all sides:

  • New type of farming: Farmers will be encouraged to grow not only traditional crops but also other profitable crops according to the season.
  • Earning from animal husbandry: Along with farming, activities like goat rearing, poultry rearing will be promoted so that farmers can earn additional income.
  • Small-scale industries: After harvesting, farmers will also be helped to start small-scale industries (like pickle making, chip making, pulse milling) in their villages.
  • Modern farming: Training and facilities will be provided on how to use drones, new seeds and new machines in farming.

This scheme is a big effort to make farmers not just ‘food givers’ but also ‘energy givers’ and ‘businessmen’. This is a long plan, whose impact will be visible slowly but very strongly.
