News India Live, Digital Desk: How can this happen when the Uttar Pradesh Assembly is in session and there is no ‘Tu-Tu Main-Main’ between CM Yogi Adityanath and Akhilesh Yadav? Often we hear leaders giving serious speeches, but the scene seen in the Assembly yesterday was no less than a mushaira.
Akhilesh Yadav raised the issue of ‘Cough Syrup’ to corner the government, but in response ‘Maharaj ji’ made such a statement that the MLAs of the ruling party started thumping the tables.
What was the issue after all? (cough syrup connection)
During the session, Akhilesh Yadav had sarcastically said that people were dying in the state because of “cough syrup” (possibly in reference to some illegal drug or cold). His reference was towards the failure of the government. Akhilesh often takes a dig at the government in his statements.
But this time his move backfired. When CM Yogi stood up to speak, he responded to this taunt in a very ‘poetic’ manner.
Yogi’s retort: ”I kept doing the same mistake again and again…”
CM Yogi looked at Akhilesh Yadav smilingly and recited the lines of a famous ghazal:
“I kept doing the same mistake again and again,
I am a man and continue to love man.”
Now you might be wondering where is the counterattack in this? so listen!
What Yogi ji said next changed the entire meaning. Making a scathing attack on Akhilesh, he said, “Your pain is that you used to stand with rioters and mafias, and we stand with the ‘common man’. We love the public (man), and you probably love criminals. That is why you find fault in everything we do.”
Yogi made it clear that those who dislike action against criminals are now finding loopholes in things like “cough syrup”.
applause in the house
As soon as Yogi completed his poetry, the entire house echoed with ‘Jai Shri Ram’ and thunderous applause. At the same time, there was some silence in the Samajwadi Party camp. In his very words, Yogi showed the mirror to the opposition that how ‘mafia rule’ used to get protection in the governments before 2017.
Humor of politics
Whatever may be the case, this scene is worth seeing in the politics of UP. On one hand, Akhilesh’s cheeky words, and on the other hand, Yogi ji’s powerful and sarcastic style. The public definitely enjoys it!
What do you have to say on this poetry war? Was Yogi ji’s answer ‘hit’ or was Akhilesh’s question heavy? Please share your opinion!
