Acharya Shri Vidyasagar Ji Maharaj of Digambar Muni tradition passed away at Chandragiri Tirtha in Dongargarh, Chhattisgarh at 2.35 pm. After leaving the post of Acharya, he observed fast and silence for 3 days. After this he sacrificed his life. At 1 pm his mortal remains will merge into the five elements.
On the death of Maharaj Vidyasagar, Prime Minister Narendra Modi wrote, Acharya Shri 108 Vidyasagar Ji, the death of Maharaj Ji is an irreparable loss for the country. His efforts for spiritual awakening among the people will always be remembered. Throughout his life he was engaged in poverty alleviation as well as promoting health and education in the society. It is my good fortune that I have been receiving his continuous blessings. I will always remember my meeting with him at Chandragiri Jain temple in Chhattisgarh last year. Then Acharya ji gave me lots of love and blessings. His contribution to the society will continue to inspire every generation of the country.
