East Champaran, 02 April (HS). DM and SP have stopped the salaries of police personnel missing during surprise inspection and have demanded an explanation. In fact, when DM Saurabh Jorwal and SP Kantesh Kumar Mishra jointly visited the EVM-VVPAT warehouse adjacent to the Collectorate complex on Tuesday, three policemen deputed for the security of the warehouse, Constable Nandan Mandal, Constable No. 822, Ranjit Kumar, Constable No. 1725 and Bunty Constable No. 983 were found absent.
It has been told that these policemen were found missing from duty without informing any senior officer nor taking any sanctioned leave, considering it as gross negligence in election work, the salaries of the three constables were stopped with immediate effect and giving an explanation Instructions were given to initiate suspension proceedings. After this there is panic in the entire department. In a hurry, Police Line DSP Chittaranjan Thakur checked the presence of EVMs kept in the district school and the police force deployed for its security. Here also Ajay Yadav constable number 456 was found unauthorizedly absent. Withholding of their salaries and suspension action with explanation has also been recommended.
After the incident, DM and SP have issued strict instructions saying that laxity or negligence in work by the personnel deputed for election work will not be tolerated. If found to be so, strict action will be taken against them.
