News India Live, Digital Desk: We all think that we are living a healthy and good life, but do you know that some of our daily habits, which seem absolutely normal to us, are actually damaging our health from within? Ayurveda, which is a thousands of years old medical system, warns about some such habits, which we repeat every day, knowingly or unknowingly.

Let us know about some common mistakes which we need to avoid:

1. Drinking cold water with or immediately after eating: This is one of our most common mistakes. According to Ayurveda, our digestive fire (Jathragni) intensifies while eating. Drinking cold water extinguishes this fire, due to which the food is not digested properly and starts rotting in the stomach. This causes problems like gas, acidity and indigestion.

2. Stopping the natural movements of the body: Sneezing, yawning, defecation or tears, all these are natural signals of the body. Ayurveda says that these should never be stopped. By stopping these, dirt (toxins) start accumulating inside the body, which later causes many serious diseases.

3. Eating even when you are not hungry: Often we eat after seeing the time or on someone’s advice, even if we are not hungry. This is a huge mistake. Food eaten without appetite becomes a burden on the body and is not digested properly, which increases obesity and digestive problems.

4. Eating heavy food late at night: According to Ayurveda, our digestive power becomes weak after the sun sets. In such a situation, eating heavy food late at night does not get digested properly, which is the main reason for poor sleep and weight gain.

5. Wrong Food Combination: Eating certain things together can be like poison for health. Like eating fruits with milk, fish with curd or eating salty things with milk. Such wrong combinations create toxic elements in the body and cause skin problems and digestive diseases.

6. Taking bath immediately after eating: After eating food, the blood circulation of the body moves towards the stomach so that the digestion process takes place properly. But taking bath immediately reduces the body temperature and blood circulation gets distributed to other parts of the body, due to which the digestion process slows down.

By improving these small habits we can live a long and healthy life. Ayurveda not only cures diseases but also teaches the art of living properly.
