Earlier it was known as Project Kuiper. However, now the name of this project has been changed. After changing the name of Project Kuiper, the company has now named it Amazon Leo.

It is being said that Amazon Leo service for enterprises will be launched this year and Amazon Leo service for common users will be launched next year. Amazon says that with the help of thousands of satellites, the company will provide connectivity in areas where mobile network is not available. Why did the company change the name of the project?

Amazon says that along with big cities, there are places in hilly areas and villages where internet connectivity is not available. Therefore, internet connectivity is delivered to these places with the help of satellite networks. Amazon has been working on Project Kuiper for the last several years, but now the company has changed the name of this project. The name Amazon LEO suggests that the system will be operated by satellites placed in Low Earth Orbit (LEO).

How will Amazon Leo work?

Amazon’s gateway antennas are placed on the ground, which exchange data with satellites. Next, customers will use smaller antennas in their homes or offices. On the basis of speed, one can choose between Leo Nano, Leo Pro and Leo Ultra. They are equipped with advanced processors, due to which they provide direct internet connectivity from satellite.

Amazon will launch 3,000 satellites

Amazon plans to launch 3,000 satellites into space. All these satellites will work together to provide strong and stable connectivity to customers. To send these satellites into space, Amazon has booked 80 rocket launches from SpaceX, Blue Origin, Arianespace and ULA. The entire network is expected to take several years to complete.
