Today is the death anniversary of the great revolutionary of the Indian freedom struggle, Lala Lajpat Rai. He was also known as Punjab Kesari. He was born on January 28, 1865 in Dhundhike Gawar in Ludhiana district of Punjab. He strongly opposed practices like child marriage and dowry. He is also known as a supporter of women’s education. He played an important role in India’s freedom struggle. During the Simon Go Back movement, British officers lathi-charged the protesters. During this beating he fell ill and died a few days later.
