India Meteorological Department has predicted the hottest summer this year. The temperature will be high for three months from April to June. According to the Meteorological Department, this year there is a possibility of heat wave lasting for 20 days, which usually lasts for 8 days. According to IMD, six states of the country, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Karnataka, Odisha and Andhra Pradesh, will be most affected by the heat in the next three months.
IMD Director General Mrityunjay Mohapatra gave this information in a virtual press conference on Monday. According to him, most parts of India are likely to have above normal maximum temperatures during April to June, while large parts of the plains will receive above normal rainfall. He said that western peninsular India is likely to be affected the most. Maximum temperatures are likely to be normal or below normal over the Western Himalayan region, northeastern states and parts of North Odisha.
According to Mrityunjay Mohapatra, there is a possibility of hotter than normal winds in most of the plains during the April-June period. Different parts of the country will receive rainfall for 10 to 20 days compared to the normal four to eight days.

Above normal rainfall is likely over most parts of northwest India and many parts of Central India, northern Peninsular India, east and northeast India.
