In order to help the farmers, the Gujarat government has decided to buy their produce at support price. Under this, procurement of groundnut, moong, urad and soybean will start from farmers at various purchasing centers in Gujarat from today.
Farmers have suffered huge losses due to unseasonal rains in Gujarat in October this year. To bail out the farmers from this loss, the Gujarat government had announced a relief package of Rs 10,00,00,00,00,000. Farmers will be given assistance of Rs 22,000 per hectare up to a maximum of 2 hectares. Besides this, the government has decided to purchase groundnut, moong, urad and soybean worth Rs 15,000 crore from farmers at support price.
In the last financial year, the Central Government had announced support prices for Kharif crops, this year the prices will be increased. Last year, support prices were announced even before the sowing of Kharif crops. According to which the support price of groundnut was Rs 7263 per quintal, support price of moong was Rs 8768 per quintal, support price of urad was Rs 7800 per quintal and support price of soybean was Rs 5328 per quintal. Support price was announced.
The Gujarat government will make purchases by increasing the support price announced last year. According to which, the support price declared last year for groundnut has been increased by Rs 480 per quintal, the price of urad by Rs 400 and the price of soybean by Rs 436 per quintal.
For procurement of Kharif crops in Gujarat at Minimum Support Price (MSP), more than 300 purchasing centers have been identified for groundnut, moong, urad and soybean, taking into account the total area and agricultural products in the state. At these purchasing centres, their Kharif crops will be purchased from farmers at Minimum Support Price (MSP).
