What is this new feature?
According to the report of WABetaInfo, WhatsApp is bringing a new ‘Manage Storage’ option. You will find this new option on the ‘Chat Info’ screen of any chat, i.e. where you see the profile picture and group members.
How will this work?
Suppose in any of your family groups, a lot of videos and photos are received and it is taking up a lot of memory on your phone.
- You just have to tap on the name of that group and go to ‘Chat Info’.
- Here you will see a new button ‘Manage Storage’ or ‘Manage Storage’.
- By clicking on it, WhatsApp will show you how much space (in MBs or GBs) that single group has taken up on your phone.
- Here you will see all the media files (photos, videos, documents) of that chat together.
- From here you can select those files and delete them in one go which you do not want to keep.
The biggest advantage of this feature is that you will no longer need to search for files in the entire phone. You can easily find out which chat is the biggest enemy of your phone and clear it immediately from there.
Currently, this feature is being rolled out for beta testers of WhatsApp and after the completion of testing, it will soon be released for all users. This is a small change, but it will bring a huge relief to millions of WhatsApp users.
