In such a situation, it is very important to take care of eating habits. In summer, curd and curd products like buttermilk, lassi and raita should be included in the diet. This keeps the stomach cool and the digestive system also remains healthy.
Often people use curd in lunch, but according to Ayurveda, curd is a bit heavy and takes time to digest. Whereas buttermilk is easily digested and it provides more cooling effect to the stomach. Drinking buttermilk or raita in summer is considered better for health. Both curd and the buttermilk made from it are rich in probiotics.
Consuming buttermilk and curd produces good bacteria in the intestine. Which helps in improving digestion. Although eating curd is good for health, but curd works better in terms of digestion. All the vitamins and minerals present in curd are found in whey. It has high water content and being thin, it is easily digested.
It is better to drink butter to cool the stomach in summer. If you consume buttermilk with food in the afternoon, the food gets easily digested. Instead of this you can also eat raita. Drinking raita and buttermilk maintains body temperature. Roasted cumin powder, salt, asafoetida and mint present in buttermilk and raita act as stomach pain relievers.
If your digestive power is strong and healthy then you can also consume curd. However, curd is high in protein. Eating curd can also lead to weight gain due to its creamy texture. If you want to lose weight, include buttermilk in your diet instead of curd. Ayurveda says that curd is hot in nature. If instead of curd, you dilute it and make buttermilk or raita and drink it, then its effect changes. Butter has a cooling effect and is easy to digest.
