America has now made its biggest bet on Russia regarding the Ukraine war. He has imposed tough sanctions on Russia’s two biggest oil companies, Rosneft and Lukoil, which has caused a stir across the world. America clearly says that Russian President Vladimir Putin is not honest about peace talks and now the dam of patience has broken.
This big step has been taken just the next day after the cancellation of the summit between US President Donald Trump and Russian President Putin.
Petrol and diesel prices on fire
As soon as America tightened its grip on these two big oil companies, the prices of crude oil went up in the international market. On Thursday, oil prices increased by more than $ 1 per barrel. This simply means that petrol and diesel may become more expensive across the world in the coming days.
America said- Putin is not serious for talks
At first, US President Trump was avoiding imposing direct sanctions on Russia. He hoped that by talking to Putin he would convince him for peace. But now the US Finance Ministry says that Putin is in no mood to end this useless war and it is these oil companies that are funding Russia’s “war machine”.
US Treasury Secretary Scott Besant warned in a statement that this is just the beginning. If necessary, America is fully prepared to take even more drastic steps to end the war in Ukraine. He clearly said, “Putin did not come to the negotiating table with honesty and clean intentions.”
Britain and Europe also became strict
America is not alone. Last week itself, Britain had also imposed sanctions on Rosneft and Lukoil. Apart from this, European Union countries have also approved the 19th sanctions package against Russia. This includes many stringent steps like banning natural gas coming from Russia till 2027, blacklisting Russian oil tankers and strictness on the movement of Russian diplomats.
Overall, Western countries are now preparing to put all-round pressure on Russia regarding the Ukraine war, which is sure to have an impact on the economy of the entire world.
