Delhi Metro new corridor update: There is a big good news for those traveling in Delhi. To reduce city traffic and make travel easier, the government has included construction of 3 more new metro corridors in its priority list. About Rs 11,150 crore will be spent on these projects and their construction will benefit lakhs of people every day. Let us know what these new routes are and how they will change your journey.
3 new metro corridors will be built here
The three corridors on which the government has decided to work first are:
- R. Of. Ashram to Indraprastha
- Aerocity to Terminal-1
- Tughlakabad to Kalindi Kunj
The total length of these three corridors will be more than 16 kilometers. Under the PM Gatishakti Framework, the National Planning Group has examined these schemes and now they will be placed before the Cabinet for final approval.
1.R. Of. Ashram to Indraprastha: The line connecting the heart of Delhi
This will be the longest and most important corridor among these three. It will be completely underground and 9 stations will be built on it. This line will pass through the heart of Delhi, including Indraprastha, Bharat Mandapam, Baroda House, India Gate, Dutva Path (near new government offices), Central Secretariat, Yuge Yuge Bharat Museum, Shivaji Stadium and R. Of. There will be important stations like Ashram Marg.
What will be the benefit of this line?
- There will be less crowd at Rajiv Chowk: This line will connect the Green Line with the Blue Line, which will significantly reduce the burden of passengers at Rajiv Chowk station.
- Easy to go to India Gate: Now tourists and Delhiites will be able to get down from the metro directly near India Gate. Currently the nearest station is Central Secretariat, from where one has to walk or take an auto.
- Convenience to government employees: It will be very easy to reach the 10 big government offices being built on the duty path.
2. Aerocity to Terminal-1: Direct connectivity to the airport
This 2.3 kilometer long line will also be completely underground and a station will be built on it. With its construction, people living in South Delhi areas like Tughlakabad, Khanpur, Saket, Mehrauli and Vasant Kunj will get direct connectivity to Terminal-1 of the airport. Especially for the passengers coming from Faridabad, this line will be no less than a boon, because they will be able to reach the airport directly from Tughlakabad Interchange.
3. Tughlakabad to Kalindi Kunj: Will connect Violet and Magenta Line.
This 4 kilometer long corridor will be elevated, that is, this line will be built above the ground on pillars. It will have three stations and will pass through Ali Village, Ali Vihar and Madanpur Khadar. This new link will be connected to the existing Magenta Line at Kalindi Kunj, thereby connecting the Violet and Magenta corridors and passengers will not have to wander to change lines.
With the construction of these three metro lines, the public transport network in Delhi will become stronger, people will save traveling time and the traffic pressure on the roads will also reduce, which will also reduce pollution.
