When Peruvian students asked- ‘How is your India?’, everyone was surprised to hear Rahul’s answer.

After ‘Bharat Jodo Yatra’, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi is now on a tour of Peru, a country in South America, thousands of miles away from India. He has not gone there for any political programme, but on a personal visit in connection with his daughter’s admission. But during this time, when he got a chance to talk to students in a Peruvian university, he said something on the current situation in India, which started a new political debate in Delhi.

What did Rahul Gandhi say after going abroad?

When Rahul Gandhi was talking to the students there, he presented a picture of India which was completely different from the claims of the government. He said two very big and serious things:

1. “Good education in India is only for a few”

Rahul said that getting good and higher education in India is not within everyone’s reach. It has become a ‘privilege’, which only a few special or rich people can get. His indication was clear that education in the country is becoming expensive and out of reach of the common man.

2. “Freedom to think and speak openly is under attack”

His second and more serious point was that in today’s India, the freedom to speak openly, ask questions and think independently is under attack. He said that such an environment has been created in the country where you cannot disagree with the policies or ideology of the government.

Why did you give such a statement abroad?

Talking about India’s internal affairs on foreign soil has always been a sensitive issue. BJP has often accused Rahul Gandhi of tarnishing India’s image by going abroad.

At the same time, Congress says that Rahul is only speaking the truth and there is no right or wrong place for speaking the truth in democracy.

This statement of Rahul was not just for the students of Peru, but it was a direct attack on the BJP government from an international platform. He has tried to convey the message that everything in India is not as it is shown. Now after returning to India he will have to face a new debate on this statement.
