Sunny Deol has resigned, now the reins of BJP are in the hands of local candidate Dinesh Singh Babbu

Gurdaspur: Bharatiya Janata Party, famous for fielding Bollywood stars from Gurdaspur Lok Sabha seat, has given ticket to local candidate Dinesh Singh Babbu this time, after which the speculations have come to an end. Film star Sunny Deol won the 2019 elections from this seat. But Sunny Deol hardly came to the assembly constituency even 5 times in 5 years. He said that politics is not his job. Because of this he will not contest any political election again. Due to this behavior of Sunny Deol, the local BJP leadership had to face a lot of trouble. This concept had become so strong that no film star should be voted for. The local leadership has also advocated giving ticket to the local leader this time. This was the reason why the BJP high command was forced to field a local candidate instead of a parachute candidate. Let us tell you that for the first time in 1998, BJP had given ticket to popular film star Vinod Khanna from this seat. He won from this seat 4 times. Sunny Deol managed to win in 2019 but he did not care much about the constituency.

Dinesh Babbu is from Sujanpur assembly constituency. Dinesh Singh Babbu, who contested elections from Sujanpur for the first time on BJP ticket in 2007, surprised everyone by defeating former Congress minister Raghunath Sahay Puri by 228 votes in a tough contest. After this, in 2012 and 2017 also, Dinesh Singh Babbu won the elections consecutively by defeating his rivals Congress candidates Naresh Puri and Amit Singh Mantu.
