Four celebrities including Chaudhary Charan Singh received Bharat Ratna, President Murmu gave the country's highest award

President Draupadi Murmu on Saturday posthumously honored four celebrities with the country's highest civilian award Bharat Ratna. These include former Prime Minister Chaudhary Charan Singh, former Prime Minister P.V. Narasimha Rao, former Chief Minister of Bihar Karpoori Thakur and agricultural scientist Dr. M. S. Swaminathan is included.

Senior BJP leader Lal Krishna Advani will be honored with Bharat Ratna on March 31. It is being told that President Draupadi Murmu will visit Advani's house on Sunday to honor him. He could not come today due to ill health. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah and BJP President JP Nadda will be present at Advani's house.

The families of four personalities received this honor in a program held today at Rashtrapati Bhavan. Narasimha Rao's son PV Prabhakar Rao, Chaudhary Charan Singh's grandson Jayant Choudhary, Karpoori Thakur's son Ramnath Thakur and MS Swaminathan's daughter Nitya Rao received honors from the President.

The Center had announced to give Bharat Ratna award to 5 personalities this year. Madan Mohan Malviya, Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Pranab Mukherjee, Bhupen Hazarika and Nanaji Deshmukh have been awarded this highest civilian honor during Modi's tenure since assuming power in 2014. Including the 5 celebrities of 2024, the number of people who have received this honor so far has reached 53.
