Chartered accountant-investment advisor Amber Dalal, who defrauded around 600 people including film actor Annu Kapoor of Rs 380 crore, has been arrested from Uttarakhand. He is currently in the custody of the Economic Offenses Wing of Mumbai Police. On Thursday night, Mumbai Police and Economic Offenses Wing arrested Amber Dalal from Rishikesh in Uttarakhand. He was changing hotels from time to time to avoid police arrest. After being produced in the court, he will be kept in custody till April 2 and will be interrogated.
The amount of fraud committed by Amber Dalal is not small but more than Rs 380 crore, hence the Economic Offenses Wing of Mumbai Police was searching for Amber Dalal since March 14. After 13 days of continuous raids, the Economic Offenses Wing of Mumbai Police has arrested him. After the arrest, the Economic Offenses Wing is now trying to find out how Amber Dalal defrauded everyone from celebrities to the so-called common people.
People invested Rs 5 lakh to Rs 10 crore at two percent interest.
The investigation so far has revealed that people were investing with Amber Dalal for more than 15 years. The investigation also revealed that people had invested at least Rs 5 lakh to Rs 10 crore at an interest rate of two percent per month. Not only India, but also people from America, England, Australia, China and Dubai are involved in Amber Dalal's Ponzi scheme. Mumbai Police is trying to find out what is the modus operandi of Amber Dalal.
