Dwarka is considered to be the ancient city of Lord Krishna. After leaving Mathura, Lord Krishna settled a new city in Dwarka and made it his capital. After his departure from this world, this city drowned in the sea. Now, in recent research, structures of a city immersed in the sea in the Gulf of Khambhat are coming out. It is believed that this is the submerged city Dwarka, which has now merged into the womb of the sea. But till date no one has been able to find an answer to how this city drowned in the sea.
Mohan Jodaro
Mohenjodaro was one of the most advanced cities in the world in its time. It was located in Larkana district of Sindh province of undivided India (now Pakistan). The city was situated on the western bank of the Indus River and is said to have been part of the Indus Valley Civilization. There was well -planned roads, drainage system and excellent city planning. But until around 1900 BC, the city mysteriously moved towards collapse. Scientists are still confused about why this happened.
Dholavira
Dholavira is an archaeological site located in Khadirbet of Bhachau taluka in Kutch district of Gujarat state. This is another amazing sample of the Indus Valley Civilization. The city existed till 3000–1500 BC. This ancient city had advanced water conservation techniques, huge reservoirs and thought-designed urban places. However, as the climate deteriorated, there was a long drought and lack of resources, the residents living there were gradually forced to leave the city and the city became completely deserted. Now only the ruins of ancient times are left in Dholavira, which testifies to the skills of the people living there and the secret of its disappearance.
Pahar
The Chola Empire was a powerful Tamil dynasty of South India, which ruled from 9th to 13th century. The capital of this empire was Caveriptanum or Pahar. It was a rich port of the Chola Empire, whose richness and liveliness are described in ancient Tamil literature, such as Shilappadikaram. But in about 500 AD, a huge tsunami destroyed this port city. Its pride marks are still present in literary and archaeological discoveries.
Vijayanagar
Vijayanagar was a powerful empire flourished in ancient Karnataka. The capital of this empire was Hampi. The city flourished from 15th to 16th century. During that time, it was the center of culture, business and grand architecture. However, after the war of Talikota in 1565, when the enemy forces attacked the city, there was a terrible massacre after the victory. During this time, the city was looted and destroyed. Even today, the ruins of the temples, markets and palaces standing there remind us of that magnificent civilization.
