Guwahati, March 29 (HS). The Railway Protection Force (RPF) of North Eastern Frontier Railway (NFR), while conducting regular checks and operations in the zone, has arrested 04 people involved in theft of passengers' luggage. During this search at various stations and trains, they successfully recovered valuables worth about Rs 1.03 lakh from railway stations like Guwahati, New Bongaigaon, Barsoi, Panjipara etc. All the arrested persons along with the recovered valuables were handed over to the concerned in-charge of GRP for further legal action.
Sabyasachi Dey, CPRO, Pusire, informed today that in an incident on March 26, the RPF team of Barsoi, jointly with the GRP team, recovered two stolen mobile phones worth Rs 30,000 during a checking operation at Barsoi railway station. Also arrested one person. On the same day, Guwahati's RPF team conducted a checking operation at Guwahati Railway Station and caught a person with a stolen mobile phone worth around Rs 10,000.
Meanwhile, on March 25, the RPF team of Kishanganj jointly with the CPDS team of Katihar conducted an investigation at Panjipara Railway Station and caught a person and recovered a mobile phone worth about Rs 60 thousand stolen from him. The person was detained.
Whereas, on March 23, RPF team of New Bongaigaon jointly with CPDS team of Rangiya conducted an investigation operation at New Bongaigaon Railway Station and caught a person with a mobile phone worth approximately Rs 03 thousand stolen from him. One person detained.
In February of the current year, RPF of Pusire arrested 34 people involved in theft of passengers' luggage. All the arrested persons along with the recovered valuables were handed over to the concerned GRP in-charge for further legal action.
