Consumer Safety is Paramount: Flipkart and Misho on Misho after BIS warning

News India Live, Digital Desk: Consumer Safety is Paramount: A major action recently has increased the concern of online shopping. The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), India’s quality standards, have suddenly conducted raids on the warehouses of two major e-commerce giants, Flipkart and Misho. The raids have been conducted to prevent the sale of goods unlikely and unlike BIS standards. The shocking thing is that these platforms were selling goods in about 25 different product categories that did not meet Indian quality criteria, and causing a big threat to consumers. Especially products like pressure cookers and helmets were being sold without compulsory ISI (ISI) mark, while these are the things that are directly related to the lives of people. This shows that consumer security was being ignored. Indeed, BIS is a national standard body that ensures quality and safety of products in India. Shortly before, BIS issued a warning to these e-commerce platforms to sell products with compulsory quality standards, but these warnings were not taken seriously. Earlier, BIS had taken action on companies like Amazon when electrical goods, toys and cookers etc. were being sold without ISI mark. Violation of quality standards under the BIS Act 2016 is a serious offense. This recent action is a big indication of how serious the government is about the safety of products sold online. Customers should also ensure that they buy only ISI certified or safe products, as their security is first. This raid is not just one action, but a tough warning for e-commerce companies that they have to follow the rules of quality and consumer safety.
