Violation of election code of conduct, Rs 12.5 lakh cash and revolver recovered; Four people were arrested

Dhanaula: In view of the Lok Sabha elections, the police of Dhanaula police station has taken major action against those violating the election code of conduct and has recovered cash worth Rs 12.5 lakh and a revolver and arrested 4 people.

Dhanaula police station in-charge Kripal Singh Mohi said that last night at around 11 pm, a white Fortuner vehicle was stopped at the Barbar toll plaza near Dhanaula, which was being driven by Vishal Chawla and Baljeet, residents of Phillaur. Singh, resident of Manas, Kanthal (Haryana), Narottam Kumar, resident of Pahewa, Kurukshetra (Haryana) and Saurav Ahuja, resident of Kurukshetra were also traveling in the vehicle. During the search of the vehicle, a briefcase was recovered from the shed and a .32 bore revolver and 8 cartridges belonging to a person sitting in the car were also recovered from the lock.

Inspector Mohi told that FST No. 7 in-charge Sarabjit Singh was called with the team, but when no response was received, Inspector Vikas Kumar of the Income Tax team was called. From whose possession Rs 12,46,500 were recovered.

He said that police officer Nirmal Singh of Dhanaula police station has been accused of violating the election code of conduct, on which action is being taken. Inspector Mohi also said that if these people submit all their evidence to the Income Tax Department then the amount will be returned.
