Jaipur, March 28 (HS). The District Sessions Court has sentenced Ahmed Shah, accused of trafficking children for child labour, to 14 years' imprisonment. Along with this, the court has punished co-accused Alauddin with ten years imprisonment. The court has also imposed a fine of thirty thousand rupees on both the accused. While another accused in the case, Nazim, is absconding.
On behalf of the prosecution, Public Prosecutor Raghavendra Pareek told the court that SI Ghanshyam of Sadar police station had filed a report in the case on May 3, 2017. The report said that after receiving information about trafficking of children for child labour, the Human Trafficking Unit has stopped some people who were bringing children in trains coming from Bihar and Bengal. In such a situation, police reached the spot for further action. There were three people with the unit at the gate of the railway station. Of these, ten children were recovered from the possession of Ahmed and Alauddin. The accused told that the children have been brought to work in making bangles. In return they get commission. On this the police arrested the three accused and presented the charge sheet in the court. When he did not appear during the trial, on January 16, 2021, the court declared the accused Nazim absconding and issued a permanent warrant for his arrest.
