Cabinet meeting update: The government has announced 5 big decisions in a cabinet meeting held today (May 28) under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Of these, 2 decisions have been taken in the interest of farmers and 3 decisions are related to infrastructure projects. Giving information about these decisions, Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnav said that today the cabinet has cleared the minimum support price and interest subsidy scheme for kharif crops. Along with this, highway projects in Andhra and railway projects in Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh have been approved.

Five major decisions have been taken in the Union Cabinet meeting. The government has increased the minimum support price by 50 percent, providing benefits to the farmers. Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnav said that a big decision has been taken for the farmers. There has been a significant increase in the minimum support price of kharif crops in the last 10-11 years. The cabinet has approved the minimum support price for the Kharif marketing season 2025-26. The total amount is estimated to be around Rs 2,07,000 crore.

Kharif minimum support price

The cabinet has approved the minimum support price for the 2025-26 kharif season based on the CACP report. Its total estimate is Rs 2.07 lakh crore. The minimum support price of paddy has been fixed at Rs 2369 per quintal, while the price of grade A is Rs 2389 per quintal. The minimum support price of tide has been increased from Rs 3699 per quintal to Rs 3749 per quintal. The minimum support price of arhar dal has been fixed at Rs 25 per quintal. 8,000 per quintal. The minimum support price of moong is Rs 250 per quintal. 8768 per quintal.

Loan waiver for farmers

Interest subsidy scheme has been approved to provide necessary funds for agricultural activities to farmers through Kisan Credit Card. Under this scheme, farmers will get a loan of up to Rs 3 lakh at an annual interest rate of 7%, which provides for 1.5% subsidy and 3% incentive, which will make the effective rate of 4%. Under this scheme, a loan of up to Rs 2 lakh will be available without any guarantee.

3 big decisions for infrastructure sector

Along with this, the cabinet has also announced 3 major decisions related to the infrastructure sector. These include a highway and 2 railway projects. The first project will be in Andhra Pradesh. There is a 4 -lane highway to be built at a cost of Rs 3653 crore, its length will be 108 km, out of which there will be 23 km upgradation and 85 km new highway. Apart from this, the project to 4-track of Ratlam to Nagda railway section and 4-track of Wardha to Ballarshah railway section has been approved.
