Lok Sabha elections: 131 candidates filed 179 nominations for the first phase of voting

Jaipur, March 27 (HS). So far, 131 candidates have submitted 179 nomination papers for the 12 Lok Sabha constituencies of the first phase under the Lok Sabha General Election-2024. On Wednesday, the last day for submitting nominations, 91 candidates have submitted 129 nomination papers.

Chief Electoral Officer Praveen Gupta said that on Wednesday, 2 from Ganganagar, 8 from Bikaner, 15 from Churu, 9 from Jhunjhunu, 10 from Sikar, 12 from Jaipur Rural, 6 from Jaipur, 6 from Alwar, 4 from Bharatpur, Karauli-Dholpur. 4 candidates from Se, 4 from Dausa and 8 candidates from Nagaur Nagaur Lok Sabha constituency have submitted their nomination papers.

Gupta said that the nomination process had started with the release of the notification of the election schedule for the first phase of voting in the state on March 20. According to the election schedule of the first phase, the nomination papers will be reviewed on March 28, while the nomination papers can be withdrawn till March 30. Voting will take place on April 19 and counting of votes will take place on June 4.

Maximum 17 candidates have submitted 24 nominations from Jaipur Rural Lok Sabha constituency, while minimum 4 candidates have submitted 5 nominations from Karauli-Dholpur Lok Sabha constituency.
