Amritsar : Vigilance Bureau has arrested ASI Gurjeet Singh of Chowki Court Complex red-handed while taking a bribe of Rs 15,000. Vigilance Bureau has taken this action on the complaint of Harjinder Singh, resident of village Fatehpur. A Vigilance Bureau spokesperson said that the complainant had complained to the Bureau that the ASI had demanded a bribe of Rs 50,000 in return for taking immediate action on the complaint lodged by him regarding a fraud of Rs 40 lakh.
The complainant said that the police officer has taken the first installment of Rs 20,000 from him and is demanding the remaining amount as bribe. He said that during the preliminary investigation of this complaint, the Monitoring Bureau team laid a trap and in the presence of government witnesses, the said ASI was arrested red-handed while taking a bribe of Rs 15,000.
He said that a case has been registered in this regard under the Anti-Corruption Act at Amritsar Range Police Station of Vigilance Bureau. He told that the accused will be presented in the court on Thursday morning. The accused will be interrogated.
